Re: ViEmu SQL installation failing

Good morning,

I got a brand new totally awesome Lenovo T61p laptop with all the goodies a dev would want like 4 GB of RAM and a T7700 Centrino Pro Dual Core processor, etc.  It has Vista on it, but with enough memory I can live with that. 

My problem is that I installed SQL Server 2005 Dev and then went a head and installed the Vi plug-in for it.  Now when I launch the SQL Studio Management app I get this error message:

The Add-in 'ViEmuSQL' failed to load or caused an exception.  Would you like to remove this Add-in?  If you choose eys, you will need to reinstall the Add-in to use it again.

Error Message:  Class not registered

Error Number:  80040154

I also noticed that the plug-in is NOT showing up under my list of installed programs.  What gives?  I've tried answering yes and then re-installing it and the same problem.  I've even went as far as to use the Microsoft clean up utility and install it again and the same problem.

Hi Aaron,

Apologies for the time it took me to respond here. Can you download the latest version of ViEmu/SQL from http://www.viemu.com ? I implemented some fixes to the installer for Vista (as detailed in http://www.viemu.com/blog/2007/12/22/new-viemusql-version-fixing-vista-install-problems/) and it may fix the problem.
