Was using 2.1.17.  Received the following error: 'ViEmu incorrectly installed, please reinstall'.

I uninstalled and the ViEmu icon still appeared on the Visual Studio startup splash screen.  It did not appear under options anymore. 

Reinstalled using the latest version.  Still receive the same error.

Running Visual Studio 2008 Standard under Windows Vista Ultimate

Other Significant Addons:
Resharper 4.0 EAP
F# Interactive for Visual Studio
Visual SVN

That is most likely due to an interaction with the trial-period control code. I'll get in touch with you by email to fix it.

Hello,

  I downloaded ViEmu (2.1.23) for evaluation but I'm getting the same message. I'm using Visual studio 2008 on Windows XP SP2. I tried reinstalling with and without removing the previous installation first, but I'm still getting this message.

Any ideas?

osh, it's most likely a conflict with the trial-period management code. I'll get in touch with you by email in a while and send you a little tool to fix it.

I have the same problem here.

I did this:
1. installed Visual Studio 2008 express edition
2. installed ViEmu trial.
3. discovered I needed the real Visual Studio
4. uninstalled ViEmu, uninstalled vs2008 express edition. not sure in which order.
5. installed Visual Studio 2008, 90 days trial
6. installed ViEmu trial.
7. when opening a C# file, I get the "ViEmu incorrectly installed" message

I run WinXP SP3.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, having the same problem, but it was caused in a different way. I changed user accounts on my work domain (which changed my local account as well). I copied all my old user files over from C:\Users\OldName to C:\Users\NewName, which included my VS2005 Folder.

Getting message: ViEmu incorrectly installed, please reinstall.

I re-installed twice (which take a really long time) to no avail.

Any ideas?

Oh I have same problem. I downloaded viemu 2.2.6 tirial version.

reinstall several times. but not working.

using VS2008 on WinXP SP3.

I found this board, and realized I followed the same sequence as ants235813.  Understand there is a fix, I need it as well.

Same problem here, would it be possible to update the ViEMU download file ? I guess not so many persons having the problem do go to the forum...

g012, the reason this has to be done manually is that it's not actually a bug with ViEmu, but some problem that happened with the trial-period management system. What I send out is a little tool to reset the trial period for 30 more days, which always solves the issue.

I'll send you an email in a moment with the tool.

i would use resharper... but i havent yet installed it

Hi Jon,

I think I ran into the same problem as everyone else. I'm running VS2k8 in VMWare, not sure if that makes any difference. I installed ViEmu 2.2.7 on my VM, but I reinstalled a new VM and copied over some settings. After that I couldn't get ViEmu to install correctly no matter what I tried.

I found this issue went away when I copied my RegKey.dat into the ViEmu directory. I hadn't realised it was licence-related so hadn't thought of doing that on this new install...
